The tandem-seat Pilatus P-2 trainer was the first production aircraft of the Swiss company of the same name. It was powered by an Argus As 410A-2 V-12 inverted piston engine, reaching a maximum speed of 340 km/h. 51 machines (+ 4 prototypes) were built in two series, one (P-2-05) unarmed and the second (P-2-06) equipped with a machine gun above the engine and wing racks for light bombs and rockets, dedicated for weapon training. They served in the Swiss Air Force between 1946 and 1981. Afterwards, most of the surviving aircraft (48?) were sold to civilian customers.
The P-2-05 aircraft with serial number 46, captured at the home airfield of Balen-Keiheuvel, is offered for sale on the Internet for € 180,000. It was built in 1948 and has flown 1,826 hours.
